Hello sports fans. First, let me feed you a little something tasty as a zookeeper throws fish to the penguins. Hardly flattering to my dear readers but man, I just can't get the image out of my head. PixelJoint to the rescue!
Ah, that's better. I have no idea if this game is real but it looks awesome. Now, to business.
I've really let you all down with the lack of posts. I know that. But I'm sure a few devotees know where I've been hiding. For all my chat of simplification, I've done that on some levels but completely been a total hypocrite in others.
For example, my music is in fuller swing than it has been in the past. I'm shooting a shotgun blast of styles out much the way I did on the first album and honestly not caring who it appeals to other than myself, which is as it should be. But I'd like more people to at least listen to it out of the gate. So I'm going to be posting it on numerous sites like Band Camp, Snocap, SoundCloud and Reverb Nation. It's a chore keeping up with them all, so I've also got a task to write up "just what's the easiest way to market and distribute your music?" The means have grown almost as much as the audio tech has. You have a billion choices. And I'm trying as many as I can.
Also, for all my talk of overpopulation, baby #3, Sean Douglas, is due in a month or so. In all seriousness I took steps to ensure that it wouldn't happen, but it did, and we personally did not feel good about an abortion, so we're adding one more to the clan. Hypocrite? Sure. Slap me silly and call me Sue. But shit, at least I admit it.
For those of you who know me on Facebook you'll know that I recently directed Samuel L. Jackson. The "why" will be released soon enough but suffice to say that was a great high point, career and creative wise, so I'll chalk it up to a great experience.
I have also been writing mostly on Gamasutra. Apparently a lot of people there (as our good friends here) seem to enjoy reading my posts, so I've continued the trend. Again, more complexity. I guess you just need to accept that if you don't want to work at Wal Mart you really need to embrace social complexity at least, even if you don't embrace technical complexity. Funny, that. <sigh> I really should visit the UK soon with the family. I seem to have some sort of connection there other than my relatives and the fact that they originally (mostly) colonized this country.
Last but not least, in the midst of writing "Earthscape" I found that all the Metallica tunes I've wanted over the years unavailable on iTunes because of the Lars Ulrich silliness over mp3s on the internet, are now available on Amazon, so I spent a few bucks and got my favorites. Then I stumbled on a guitar tune I started three years ago. I'd like to finish it but it's more complex than Earthscape and definitely more demanding in the performance department. So I throw it out to you all. Should I diverge, AGAIN, from both Contention and Earthscape to finish this single, or save it for a rainy day? YOU decide.
